Image
Secret Shopper Cover Reveal. Yep, that just happened.

My book has been uploaded and is ongoing review. I hope to order proofs in a few days and then have it go LIVE (meaning available for paperback purchase and Kindle e-book) by my self-imposed deadline of May 13th.

I just Photo Gridded and Instagrammed my upcoming novel's cover on Facebook. Am I fretting? Yep. But, I was just so excited I had to share.

I'm including for the first time the story's summary here. Stay tuned for developments and thank you for your continued support!

How do you view yourself? This Dove commercial....

Image
...had me wondering.

Just wanted to share this Dove commercial I stumbled across as I waited for my Macklemore song (Can't Hold Us) to upload on Youtube.

I find this social experiment intriguing. How many of us downplay our real beauty, whether it's in our face, body, heart, soul?

I know I have the wish I could be a little bit taller syndrome, but this commercial makes you think.

Here's my new (but old) Macklemore jam that pumps me up. Doing my best to reach and break through my ceiling.

Just do what you do...

NYC Midnight Short Story Challenge! Round 1 Results...

Image
I'm happy to report that I have a small victory today! My short story, "Pain Meds" made it passed Round 1 of the NYC Midnight Short Story Challenge. I was in Heat 21. My assignment--Genre: Romance / Subject: A Test of Physical Strength / Character: Nurse. I was one of 5 winners of a pool of 32 writers. And I'm now one of 125 writers moving on from a starting pool of 800.

We had 8 days to write a 2,500 word short story. Round 2 is in 2 days, again with a mystery assignment, but with fewer days and fewer words to express it in.

Special thanks to my mali/sister/friend/nurse (Alison Rae Taimanglo Cuasay) for inspiring the events in my story.

Here it is!

Pain Meds BY Tanya C. Taimanglo

SUMMARY
Nurse Norma’s usual workday would test her strength in more ways than one. By meeting patient Jonah--a man struggling to recover, Norma is taught that power and beauty really come from within.

I’ve always believed that I didn’t have much luck with men because my name was Norma. There …

Authors are Rock Stars and Should be Treated Accordingly....

Image
At least for me, authors are ROCK STARS….I met YA author, Gennifer Albin today at the Lynnwood, WA Barnes & Noble. I arrived an hour early to avoid lines and to assess the situation. I would have been an awesome Girl Scout, I tell ya.

I asked the first employee to greet me for the location of the author signing. She had to call someone else and told me there were two possible places it could be within the store. She finally pointed me in the right direction. I expected to see more signage, maybe gaggles of teenage girls around, but I was the first one circling the author table.

To make use of my time, I bought a mocha I didn’t need and strolled the YA and Fiction sections. I treated the hour I was gifted like I was at Costco sampling books instead of food. I nibbled on beginning lines of some books, devoured first chapters of others. I read author bios and picked up books with covers that called to me.

When Gennifer and her husband arrived, I was already chatting up a lovely lady…
